This map reflects the number of students enrolled at both the undergraduate and graduate level by State and the number of degree-granting institutions enrolling those students.
The top five states in total enrollment (UG & GR) were California, Texas, New York, Florida and Illinois. Combined, these states enrolled 7,430,910 students, which accounted for 37.3% of all enrollments.
The top five states for enrolling exclusively distance education (EDE) students were California, Arizona, Texas, Florida and Utah in fall 2018. Combined, these states enrolled 1,169,422 students in EDE, which accounted for 36% of all EDE enrollments. At the heart of our research is distance education.
